Police and Crime Commissioner Elections

On May 5th we have elections locally for a new Police and Crime Commissioner. I have received no postal correspondence, haven't a clue who holds the post currently, and frankly don't care. I shall not vote as I feel I have no data on which to base my choice. What a shambles! The sad thing is this probably cost us all millions.

UK crime figures down again?

See http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-30931732 .

According to the official statistics, recorded crime is down yet again in England and Wales. I am a bit suspicious of the figures. Is crime really lower or is it just that the police don't record crimes as they used to (it would spoil their numbers) or that people no longer report all crimes? If correct, this is good news. It certainly does not feel safer, although we have, thankfully, not been a victim of recent crime.

Threat to serving police officers

See http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-30390392 .]]

Apparently the West Midland Police have received credible evidence of a threat to capture a serving officer. I assume this came from IS or Al Qaeda, but I don't know this is so. Clearly worrying times for all police officers anywhere.
