Breakfast
For the last few days one of our sons has been staying here with his family. He has cooked breakfast. The photo shows our son having his breakfast earlier. It was great to see them all.

Breakfast in the garden
For the last 2 days we have had breakfast in the garden. It has been hot lately - unusually hot for the UK. It was good to be able to sit outside in the shade at 8.30am and not feel chilly at all.
One of the pleasures was watching the birds e.g. this Robin. By the way, most of the fat balls in this feeder have gone within 24 hours, eaten by robins, great tits, dunnocks, collared dove, pigeons and jackdaws! Traditionally robins enjoy mealworms, although they much preferred the fat balls.

American hotels and breakfast
One of my first surprises on trips to the USA was that few (no?) hotels offer breakfast. They expect you to get this down the road. Most have places to eat very nearby, but if you are not used to this it comes as a surprise. I have an old work colleague who is in Indiana for a conference and he was caught out.
Once, in eastern Canada, we stopped for breakfast at a roadside cafe. There were 6 fried eggs and lots more on the plate. It was huge. We did not go hungry!

Healthy breakfasts?
Although a fried breakfast is considered unhealthy, whenever on holiday I just LOVE a full English breakfast. I find it keeps me going for most of the day. Must be all the protein. As a treat, we sometimes take our children to La Hogue Farm Shop for a real cooked breakfast. I love the hash browns, the perfectly cooked egg, the sausages and bacon!
Of late, because of my stroke, I have been more limited in my breakfast choices. Today I had 1.5 Weetabix, half a banana, followed by a boiled egg and toast, with a cup of tea. The Weetabix and banana go down easily despite my poor swallow. I think I'd struggle with a full English.
Given a free choice, I'd prefer the breakfast shown below at http://por-img.cimcontent.net/api/assets/bin-201007/9d64a268287e96414c347f2ab6b45158.jpg even though it is supposed to be unhealthy. Hopefully I should be able to eat a full English breakfast again before too long.
